The invention concerns a drive roller designed to be mounted between the driving and idle wheels on a vehicle bogie. Because the roller is supplied with outwards-open spaces at both ends, it is possible to arrange cleaning devices 9 to be fixed to the shaft which, with rotation of the roller, will keep the interspace clear of dirt, thus making it essentially impossible for dirt to collect there.
