PURPOSE:To prevent uneven cooling of steel hoop which is at high temp. and to perform cooling control at a prescribed temp., by installing suction ducts combined with collecting boards for water drops between multistage gas-water headers arranged in a cooling chamber, and by installing gas spray nozzles at the inlet and the outlet of the cooling chamber. CONSTITUTION:Gas-water coolant mixture is sprayed from each gas-water header 12 uniformly on the surface of steel hoop 11. The coolant branched off from the spray is sucked with sucking ducts 14 positioned between the gas-water headers 12, hereby the supercooling of both side ends of the steel hoop 11 is prevented. Water drops formed by the cohesion of the stream of the coolant from evey gas- water headers 12 are captured with water-drop collecting board 34 attached to the underside of the suction ducts 14, hence uniform cooling is performed with every header 12 without affecting the gas-water headers 12 positioned at the lower part. Spraying fluid of laminar shape, having uniform flow speed in lateral direction, from gas-spraying headers 17, 19 provided at the inlet and the outlet of the cooling chamber allows to prevent the downward and upward stream sprayed from the uppermost and lowermost gas-water headers 12, hereby the uneven cooling at the inlet and the outlet of the cooling chamber is pevented. |
