PURPOSE:To prevent intensive cooling of both edges of strip effectively, by installing suction ducts combined with collecting board for water drops between multistage gas-water headers arranged in a cooling chamber. CONSTITUTION:Gas 20 is spouted from gas spray nozzle of each gas-water header 8, and water 21 is spouted from a small hole 18'. The mixed coolant collides with the surface of strip 7 in mist. The collided stream is sucked with the sucking hole 12 of a sucking duct 11 positioned between respective gas-water headers 8, hereby the stream toward the edges of the strip 7 is prevented. Water drops formed by cohesion from the stream of coolant of each gas-water header 8 are captured with a collecting board 23 for water drops, installed at the under side of the sucking duct 11 at an upward angle, and flows into the sucking duct 11. Hence uniform cooling of strip in lateral direction of the strip 7 is performed with each header 8 without producing effect on the lower gas-water headers 8. |
