Boom with variable profile to alter sail curvature - has support beams travelling along boom under action of screw threaded rod

The boom is fabricated from a beam (1) which supports a curved element (15) made up of segments (10) pinned at intervals. The segments carry the track (18) for the foot of the sail. The flexible element (15) is fixed to a number of support beams (5,6,7,8) which are held in position by the side beams (20,21,22). The support beam (7) extends onto a positioning bar (25) with a screw thread (24). The beam (7) can move along the boom by turning the screw (27) and vary the sail curvature.
