In a process for the sepn. of Mo and/or W and/or Ti and/or V and/or Nb and/or Ta present in the form of organometallic cpds. in soln. in an organic effluent, the effluent is mixed with 1-10 wt.% water and the mixt. is heated under press. at 150-220 deg.C, and the resulting metal-contg. ppte. is sepd. from the effluent. Pref. the effluent/water mixt. is heated at 150-220 deg.C /15-25 bar for 2-10 hours.- Process is economical to operate, uses cheap materials, and does not require complicated appts.
