The starting of a liquid petroleum gas (LPG) fuelled internal combustion engine is improved by injection of extra fuel via a supplementary pipe to supplement fuel supplied by the normal supply line. An electronic circuit controls the operation of a solenoid in a modified pressure regulator valve. The electronic control circuit operates the regulator solenoid to give ON/OFF control of the flow rate in the supplementary line. The regulator has three operating modes giving three reducing flow rates as the starting sequences progresses. The modes are a timed interval of a few seconds after operation of the starter, the interval between this first regime and releasing of the starter, and the interval till the engine reached a set temperature. The electronic circuit uses an oscillator/divider integrated circuit and divide by eight circuits to time start and finish of the pulses in the various regimes, with overriding control from the starter contacts and a temperature transducer.
