<p>Flat textile shapes are woven or knitted from yarns textured e.g. by air jet, and adhered to a leather backing. The leather/fabric composite is used for producing the outer casings of sports balls, e.g. for handball or football, or for furniture covering. The textile shapes may be sewn to provide solid and durable seams with a high resistance to splitting. Ball casings adopt an improved round contour, have a high deformation resistance, and are less water-absorbent than traditional materials.</p> |
