At the cutting station sections corresponding to a sack length are cut off from a foil track. The machine produces a bottom seam with each sack having side folds along its length sides to permit four layers of the foil to be placed one above the other. There is also a filling station with a fill up socket with devices to place the sacks on to the fill up socket and a conveyor installation equipped with tongues to grip the open sack ends. Each of the parallel rows is formed as a double row consisting of two beams equipped with tongues and movable relative to each other. At the endand at the beginning of each conveyor step the sacks are transferred from the tongues of the first beam to tongues of the other beam.
