Curable epoxy resin compsns. comprise a mixt. of 1,2-epoxide cpds. with more than one epoxide gp./ mol. and an amine curing agent comprising a mixt. of rpim. and sec. amines H2N.CH2.C(R)2. CH2.C(R)2.CHR.(CH2)n.NH2 (I) and R'HN.CH2.C(R)2.CH2.C(R)2.CHR.(CH2)n.NHR' (II) in which n is 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 or 8, R (same or different) is H or CH3 and R' is a 1-8C (un)branched alkyl gp. Pref. 0.2-0.9, esp. 0-8 equivs. (I) and 0.8-0.1 equivs., esp. 0.2 equivs. (II) are used per epoxy equiv. Pref. (I) is 2,2,4-(2,4,4-) trimethyl hexamethylenediamine- 1,6 and (II) is N,N'-diisobutyl-2,2,4-(2,4,4-) trimethylhexamethhlene diamine-1,6 or the corresponding N,N'-di-n- or -isopropyldiamine. The mixt. of (I) and (II) gives curable epoxy compsns- with a long pot life and which cure to prods. with a completely non-sticky surface (in contrast to compsns. cured using (I) alone, which have a tacky surface due to absorption of CO2 from the air). The compsns. cure at room temp.,cure being accelerated by heating at 80-120 deg.C. Prods. are useful as coating compsns., moulding materials, etc.
