The IC engine carburettor includes an operator-controlled throttle disc and a starting mechanism comprising a rotary valve which is operated as a function of engine temp. to control the fuel mixt. during start-up and is coupled to a vacuum positioner. The valve is operated against spring action by a thermal expansion element. The valve shaft may be rotatable by a two-armed lever with a cam track. There is a lever with a stop pin engaging the track under action of a spring between the arm of the lever and the first arm while the second arm is spring-loaded to open the valve and a Y-lever carries a pin capable of engaging the track and is engaged by the element to close the valve against the spring.
