Fibre reinforced plastics components are produced from crosslinking/polymerising etc. resins contg. reinforcements, fillers, hardeners, accelerators or sensitisers, by winding, centrifuging and/or drawing, pref. moving the material vertically to a processing line, consolidating, forming into profiled sections, and curing. all known fibres can be used, singly or combined, drawn from reels, mixed with binder pref. by rollers or impregnators, guided, freed from excess binder, and formed into shape and solidified. Surface-sensitive fibres, and carbon fibre in partic. are vibrated without touching each other by air or gas pulses and carried over rollers those to impregnate >=1 other type of fibre (e.g. glass), the angle of wrap round the rollers of the carbon fibres is pref. 0-45 degrees. The impregnated guided or doctored fibres then pass through spring-loaded or similar squeeze or guide rollers, >=1 type of fibres is moved in cross-directions and >=1 other type of fibre is moved similarly but at an angle to the first fibres. The fibres pass to the point for processing in single or multiple layers and are formed into a (pref.) four-dimensioned composite product by a (pref.) continuously vhf heating device. System produces carbon type or mixed fibre laminated article with the fibres unimpaired and therefore with hitherto unattainable high mechanical strengths. There is effective fibre wetting, no blisters, min. friction between fibres and rollers, min. wastage of fibres.
|
