PURPOSE:To increase the heat accumulating effieicncy of the subject heat accumulator by providing a heat accumulating material crystal separating device at the peripheral edge of a horizontal heat exchanger for cooling dipped in a latent heat accumulating material. CONSTITUTION:A heat exchanger 5 for cooling provided with pipes 5b having plate-shaped fins 5a on their lower sides, in contact with each other in a horizontal manner, is provided at the upper part of a heat accumulating material 3 (specific gravity of crystal is larger than that of the liquid) within a heat accumulating vessel 1, and a heater 6 is wound around the peripheral edge of the heat exchanger 5. When a predetermined quantity of heat accumulating material crystals 4 adhere to the heat exchanger 5, a high-temperature heat medium from a compressor is caused to flow to the pipes 5b and, at the same time, electric current is caused to flow to the heater 6, and the crystals 4 are caused to drop. When a heat accumulating material having the specific gravity of crystals smaller than that of the liquid, is used, the heat exchanger 5 for cooling is installed at the lower part. In this manner, the heat accumulating material crystals 4 are regularly accumulated, so that the heat resistance of the heat exchanger is decreased, and the recovery of heat from the heat accumulating material can be performed effectively. |
