Heat exchanger for enclosed rotating machine - has cooling tubes and heating rods using expansion for shrink-fitting onto stator

The heat exchanger (2) is made of aluminium or similar and fits in one piece over the laminar stator packet (1) by means of a shrinkage fit. The exchanger contains axially-parallel cooling tubes (3) and heating rods (4). The rods are near the inner surface of the exchanger and are used to heat the exchanger. The cooling tubes end in holes (5) in support rings (6,7) connected to bearing plates. A gap (9) for cooling is left between the outer casing (8) and the exchanger. External air flows through the cooling tubes. The heating rods can be connected to a current source so that the exchanger expands and can be readily fitted onto the stator.
