The machine tool contains a frame (1), with a carriage (3) arranged on it, a work table (5), which is mounted on the carriage (3), and transport guides (7 and 8) for displacing on the latter pallets with the workpieces to be machined, and a device (23) for the automatic pallet change. The device (23) for the automatic pallet change comprises a fixed base (24) with transport guides (7a and 8a), a pallet-displacing means mounted on the fixed base (24), and at least one knee support fastened to the carriage (3) and having transport guides. Here, these transport guides (7 and 8, 7a and 8a) are constructed in such a way that, when the work table (5) is put into the pallet-change position, these guides (7 and 8, 7a and 8a) form a uniform closed contour from the said guides, via which the pallets can be displaced from the device (23) for the automatic pallet change onto the work table (5) and back again. <IMAGE>
