<p>A sealed flask (10) contg. a liq., medical additive (12) e.g antibiotic, anticoagulant, to be decanted in sterile conditions into a parenteral soln. The flask neck (14) is outwardly flanged (16) and flat-topped (18). The neck is closed by a disc (24) with an internal, coaxial, exterior, hollow needle (30) with a point (31) and adequate rigidity to pierce an elastically deformable cap (40) and the diaphragm of a soln. bottle. When the flask is heated for sterilisation, vapour from the liq. attains a pressure exceeding 135 kilo pascals and lifts the skirt (41) of the cap (40) as sterilising vapour blows through the needle passage. The top section (42) of the metal cover (22) is removable.</p> |
