<p>A magnetic tape recorder, for use in road vehicles, is designed for ease of cassette access and has a very limited overall height. The rear of the recorder/player housing carries the tape pick-ups (19) and a mechanical latch (26) for retention of the slide out drawer (2) that carries the tape cassette. The cassette locates on capstans (10a,10b) within the drawer, that also carries the tape drive pin (11). A coupled pulley (12) transmits power from a motor (14) within the housing. When the cassette drawer is inserted, the motor moves along a slotted guide track (16).</p> |
