The tubular lamp (7) is enclosed by a polished, highly transparent impact resistant cylinder (1) of glass or plastics material. A reflector (8) can also be enclosed by the cylinder, behind the lamp. The tube is supported between end caps each mounted on a bracket (2) with a flanged foot for mounting on a surface and with a locking screw (3) through the bracket engaging the centre of the cap. For more than one lamp in line, tubes can be connected by intermediate sleeves, and can be suspended from a ceiling by intermediate supports formed by plastics coated perforated metal strips which enclose the tubes in loops. Sealing rings are incorporated with the end caps, and a ventilation system can also be used. |
