Transfer marking film comprises a support with a marking layer comprising (a) a radiation-sensitive compsn. (I) which when exposed to radiation forms a coloured substance capable of absorbing light in the visible spectrum so as to cause a detectable difference in diffused reflection density between the exposed and unexposed areas; (b) a pigment capable of reflecting in diffuse fashion light of the wave length absorbed by the coloured substance, and present in an amt. of nearly equals 0.54-3.66 g/m2; and (c) a colourless film-forming thermoplastic binder which allows radiation to pass through. The transfer sheets are esp. useful for applying 'Universal Product Code' (UPC) markings to packaged prods. for supermarket stock control purposes. These markings are a series of bars and spaces which are read by diffused reflection. The transfer sheets gives the required contrast and accuracy to the markings and can be applied to a wide range of substrates.
