Speed regulation of DC motor - has tachogenerator feedback coupled with pulse shaping circuit and synchronisation with external source

The speed regulation system is for d.c. motors and is designed to allow the operation to be synchronised with an external source. The system is particularly suited to video recorder applications. The d.c. motor (10) has a direct coupling to a tachogenerator (11) with a rotor (12) that induces an a.c. signal in a coil (14) coupled to an operational amplifier (16) circuit that produces square wave signals. The signal is shaped by a multivibrator integrated circuit (37) that is controlled by the output of a frequency generator (43) to provide synchronisation.
