<p>The grinding machine is used to sharpen drill bits, incorporating a swivelling centering block (7) which moves towards the grinder (10), and utilising a reproduction cam to control the block. The arrangement permits the formation of the bit cutting lip and clearance in a single operation together with the reduction of bit web thickness by a movable cradle. The block may be mounted on a movable frame which locates the reproduction cam, the latter permitting adjustment of the blocks movement towards the grinder. In addn. the block may include a finger which is maintained in a cam track by a compression spring, and may be mounted on a slide housed by the movable frame. The slide maintains the block on the longitudinal frame axis, and a block-mounted shaft may guide a sliding thrust stop which feeds the bit to the grinder.</p> |
