The arrangement is for storage and transport of a liquid in a tank (1), such as the tank of a sea-going tanker vessel. Before filling the tank, a bag (18) in a flexible material is lowered into the tank in largely collapsed condition. The liquid is pumped into the bag (pref. from below via 7-10) such that the liquid expands the bag into contact with the tank walls (2-5). The upper end of the bag has at least one opening whose rim is held by the corresponding opening in the top (2) of the tank or a component provided thereon. The capacity of the bag is pref. at least 10% greater than that of the tank and its material preferably has between 200 and 500% elongation at fracture.
