摘要 PURPOSE:To operate the motor with saved electric power consumption, by reducing the electric current flowing through the exciting circuit of the separately excited motor for driving the rolling mill, during the period of an idling pass. CONSTITUTION:When the drop-out of the material's tail end is detected by the rolling load detector 16, the field current reducing circuit 15 is actuated in order to reduce the field current. This reduced field current is continued until soon before the biting of the next material by the rolling mill. When the billet detector 12 installed in the table in front of the rolling mill detects the next material to be rolled, the arithmetic timer 14 for forecasting the time of biting the material operates the forecast for the time of arrival of the material at the rolling mill, utilizing the output of the table speed detector 11, and the timer 14 produces a reset signal. By this reset signal, the field current reducing circuit 15 stops to produce the output, and at the same time, the control circuit 6 for uniformizing the counter-electromotive- force adjusts the field voltage variable electric power source 9 so as to make the output of the counter-electromotive-force command unit 9 equal to the normal set point for the period of rolling work.
