An evacuated blood-sampling tube (1'') has a stopper with a skirt (43) which fits over the open end of the tube neck (1''a). The stopper has a central plug (48) surrounded by an annular groove (45), so that when the stopper is fully pushed on a dual-sealing effect is provided by the plug (48) fitting in the tube end and a sealing portion (43') of the skirt gripping about the tube neck. The stopper can be pulled out to a venting position, in which an axial groove (47) in the skirt communicates the interior of the tube with the exterior, to facilitate processing of the tube sample, including pipetting, with the tube stoppered. The tube may have a bead (2'') which engages the annular groove (45) in the sealing position and engages in another annular groove (46) in the stopper skirt to define the venting position. The axial groove (47) may be filled with an aseptized gas-permeable filtering material (49). |
