1430196 Sealing vanes of semi-rotary actuators R MIRKOVIC and S VICAR 13 March 1973 [13 March 1972] 11937/73 Heading F1F The vane of a semi-rotary actuator has a seal 15 which extends continuously around the vane 14 and its hub, the seal covering each side of the vane and its peripheral edges sealingly engaging the axial end-walls and peripheral wall of the chamber housing 13, a further seal 19 being provided in the housing for wipingly sealing the hub portion of seal 15. Seal 19 presents two lips 19a for engaging seal 15 and the latter has multiple saw-toothed peripheral edges around the hub Fig. 3, (not shown) to provide labyrinth sealing. Along the sides of the vane 14, seal 15 has outwardly turned peripheral lips and the outer surfaces of the seal 15 have a felt layer extended thereover which is impregnated with oil to provide lubrication of the seal Fig. 5, (not shown). |
