A palleting machine for transferring objects - such as bags or cartons - arranged in layers - so called tiers - from a driven conveyor on to a discharge plate capable of moving to and from and with a locking bar, from which the layer is transferred to an underlying pallet or layer when the discharge plate is withdrawn, the latter having a surface with a low coefficient of friction in respect of the layer of objects, the said pallet being brought into position and lowered in steps as each layer is transferred on to it by an elevating mechanism. Another driven conveyor (3) is arranged at a distance above and parrallel to the first conveyor (1) and near the discharge plate (4), to abut the top surface of the layer (9) with a view to ensuring together with the first conveyor (1) complete transfer of all objects in the layer (9) to the discharge plate (4). The conveyor (3) can be adjusted in the vertical direction to match the height of the objects, i.e. the thickness of layer (9). |
