摘要 <p>The disclosure describes a method of processing waste water using an adsorbent which can be regenerated, such as activated carbon or aluminum oxide. For this purpose, treated waste water is conveyed through an adsorber filled with an adsorbent having a desired given nominal particle size in order to charge the adsorbent. The charged adsorbent is then moved from the adsorber and waste water is drained from the discharged absorber. The adsorbent is conveyed through a measuring device into a regenerating device such as a fluidized bed oven to be regenerated, after which the regenerated adsorbent is pumped into the absorber. Before the charged adsorbent enters the regenerating device, the adsorbent is separated into a first adsorbent fraction including adsorbent particles having the above given nominal size and into an undersized second adsorbent fraction consisting of adsorbent particles having a size less than the given nominal particle size but a particle size which is greater than 10% of the given nominal particle size. The undersized second fraction is processed in a processing plant until it reaches the nominal particle size and is then returned to the adsorber together with the regenerated adsorbent particles. This method is particularly applicable to the removal of phenol from waste water.</p>
