PURPOSE:To produce a wide-band focusing optical fiber, by laminating vapor of introduced glass materials into the tube successively by vapor-phase reaction while reducing the quantity of vapor of glass materials introduced for forming each layer for every layer. CONSTITUTION:Glass materials vapor is led into the heated quartz tube and is reacted in vapor phase to accumulate core glass layers in the tube successively, and after that, the quartz tube is made solid and is stretched by heating to obtain a focusing optical fiber. In this method, the quantity of glass material vapor introduced for every accumulation of the layer is reduced to reduce the glass accumulation quantity toward the center, and ripple intervals are made uniform approximately when the quartz tube is made solid. |
