<p>The parent patent describes a photographic prod. comprising (a) a photosensitive element comprising a support carrying a Ag halide emulsion layer associated with a colour image forming cpd.; (b) a basic processing compsn. and means for releasing it on the exposed photosensitive element; (c) a bleaching-fixing sheet comprising a support with one or more layers contg. a metallic Ag bleaching agent, a Ag salt fixing agent and a hydrophilic binder with a swelling time T 1/2 above 5 secs. and (d) a retarding layer comprising a polymer which allows development of the Ag image and the imagewise distribution of the residual coloured cpd. before the processing compsn. passes through the retarding layer to reach the bleaching-fixing layer, thus releasing the bleaching and fixing agents to form a bleached and fixed colour image, the photographic prod. also contg. a Ag halide developer. In the patent of addition the prod. contains a basic processing compsn. which (1) has a pH of 10-12 and (2) contains an agent (I) which promotes penetration of the basic processing compsn. through the retarding layer. A process for producing an image using the above basic processing compsn. is also claimed. Chromogenic development can be effected at low pH, e.g. less than 12, (cf 14 or above in the parent patent) depending on the colour forming cpds., the quality of the required image etc.</p> |
