<p>The aerial has a height less than 1/10th its working wavelength lambda and comprises a wire conductor as a radiator element (5) bent to form three sides of a rectangle. The two longer parallel arms have a length equal to or less than lambda/8. The element is excited at two symmetrical points by a very short two-wire supply (2,3) perpendicular to the arms and of length less than lambda/10 such that the resonance of the circuit formed by the element is adapted directly to the aerial impedance. Each wire of the two-wire supply is soldered at one end in a hole (6,7) in the centre of the associated arm. The other, lower end of one wire is connected to on earth plate coplanar with the aerial plane and that of the other wire is connected to external circuitry, providing on asymmetrical excitation of the aerial.</p> |
