Provision is made for carrying away harmful materials, esp. waste salts from rivers subjected to deposits of such materials which otherwise contaminate banks. This involves a pipe duct system (a) laid in the rivers, to remove waste waters, esp. salt solutions. This is formed at the point of introduction (C) so that, in the operative condition, it constantly and automatically completely fills itself with waste water and/or river water. The entry can be in the form of an upwards-open funnel, with waste water forcibly led into it (d). There may be several such points along the ducting system.
