<p>PURPOSE:To recover iron ore raw materials from red mud by mixing the red mud and ferrous sulfate, roasting the same at specific temperatures then eluting Al and alkali with water or hot water, and filtering out and dehydrating the residue. CONSTITUTION:If red mud and ferrous sulfate which are waste in Al product are mixed and are roasted at 400-1,000 deg.C (particularly 600-900 deg.C), the ferrous sulfate is oxidized to iron oxide and Al and alkali bound with sulfuric acid to become Al2(SO4)3 and alkali sulfate. These are eluted with water or hot water, whereby Al2(SO4)3 and alkali sulfate are extracted and separated. As a result, the iron content in the residue increases. This residue is dehydrated to provide iron making raw material.</p> |
