摘要 <p>An automatic shut-down device for Diesel engines which shuts-down the engine by interrupting the supply of fuel upon detecting reverse rotation of the engine. A Diesel engine for use in an automobile undergoes reverse rotation with relative ease, an occurrence which may result in engine burn out if neglected. Accordingly, it is required that the engine be shut-down before such occurrence. The device utilizes the fact that, the output voltage of a battery-charging AC generator, which is coupled to the Diesel engine, experiences a phase-shift at such time that reverse rotation occurs. Specifically, one phase of the output voltage from a three-phase AC generator is applied to the data-input terminal of a D-type flip-flop and another phase of the output voltage is applied to the clock terminal of the flip-flop. A high-voltage level is developed at the output terminal of the flip-flop during normal rotation and a low voltage level during reverse rotation. The low level-voltage signal thus obtained energizes an actuator to shut down the engine. </p>
