Clamping jig for changing stay wire insulators - has double clamps both ends and telescopic hydraulic centre columns to pull ends closer and slacken centre section

A clamping jig is attached to support single or double wiring arrangement used for supporting a large mast transmitter or receiver array so that the isolating insulators in the stay wires can be relieved of the strain. The jig comprises four 'knee lever arms' each with a hinge joint at the centre. The joints are attached at the sides by two hydraulic telescopic uprights and across the top by rigid spacers. At the outer ends of the 'knee lever arm' units which form the tensioning frame are the stay members clamp plates which fix onto stay wires or other insulator units etc. as required. A bolt clamping arrangement is used for holding the wire etc. Lashing plates are also used at the ends of the double 'knee lever arms'. The jig is attached on the stay with the centre hydraulic telescopic units at min. extension and these are fully extended to take the strain of the stay for insulator etc. replacement.
