A replaceable bearing half-shell 4 of synthetic plastics material is mounted in a bearing-block 3 so that, on radial removal of the bearing-block from a shaft 2, the half-shell 4 is retained in the block 3. The shaft 2 is rigidly secured between two walls 1 and the detachable unit comprising the half-shell 4 and the block 3 is rotatably mounted on the shaft 2. The bearing surface 8 of the half-shell 4 encircles the shaft 2 to slightly more than 180 degrees and terminates in lateral cheeks 7; and the outer surface of the half-shell 4 is shaped so as to fit into a depression 5 in the block 3, the depression being formed with undercut recesses 6 to retain the half-shell in position. When the half-shell is to be replaced, the unit is moved radially so that the lateral cheeks 7 are opened outwardly to allow disengagement with the shaft and to cause a tighter engagement of the half-shell in the recesses 6 of the block 3 and thus allow the latter to be removed from the shaft but still retain the halfshell in the depression. The half-shell is replaced and the unit is returned to support the shaft. |
