Flexible cauls with drag bars are stacked in an intermediate feeder station to which they are moved. A chain conveyor operates above a cascade of separate horizontal conveyors, guides are fitted at the gaps between these conveyors, and the system includes a caul return conveyor. Suitable for chipboard production, smooth feed free from kinking or buckling, system holds and feed cauls back for reuse without rolling them up. The figure shows a traction chain conveyor (1) which is positioned beyond the unloader of a heated chipboard press and which moves a flexible caul (2) in its drag bar (15) carrying a pressed chipboard (3). The board (3) is passed on through pressure rollers (5), whilst the caul (2) is picked up by its bar (15) on to the belt (6) and thence on to a conveyor (7). This latter conveyor (7) is separately driven and feeds the caul (2) at any desired speed on to a cascade of further horizontal conveyors (7,13,16) of which the last (16) feeds the caul to the point where it is reloaded with a fesh mat of chips. Each cascade conveyor (7,13) has a curved guide (10,11) to prevent the caul from folding. |
