Preparation of guanosine by aerobically culturing a guanosine-producing mutant strain of Bacillus subtilis, which requires at least adenine for growth and is resistant to 8-azaguanine, in an aqueous nutrient medium containing adenine or an adenine derivative capable of providing same, e.g. adenosine, adenylic acid, nucleic acid, dry yeast and yeast extracts.
