PURPOSE:To secure a virtual closed magnetic circuit for the magnetic circuit excepting the gap part where the recording medium exists by forming the main and auxiliary side cores into nearly a channel-shape and then disposing them in opposition to each other, thus increasing both the recording and reproducing efficiencies. CONSTITUTION:The main magnetic pole 3 made of the metal magnetic thin film such as the amorphous magnetic alloy or the like having a high saturation magnetic flux density and high permeability is formed on one side face of the core 8 having a high-permeability material formed virtually into a channel-shape. The core part 8 consists of the foot part 9 having a comparatively small area, the foot part 10 having a wide cross-sectional area to secure a high-efficiency convergence of the magnetic flux sent from the auxiliary magnetic pole provided on the back side of the medium, and the connection part which gives a connection between these foot parts 9 and 10. On the other hand, the channel-shaped auxiliary magnetic pole core 13 composed of a high- permeability material is provided on the back side of the magnetic medium. The core 13, opposing to the thin film 3, consists of the foot part 15 containing the recording/reproducing signal winding 14 and having a small cross-sectional area, the foot part 16 having a wide cross-sectional area to secure a high-efficiency circulation of the magnetic flux to the core 8, and the connection part to give a connection between these foot parts 15 and 16. |
