Acid chlorides (I; X = divalent O or S; n = 0-3) useful as intermediator for cephalosporine, were recovered by distn. of I-contg. nonaq. mixt. in the presence of distg. promoter ( 25 -300 wt.% of I ) such as organopolysiloxane or mineral oil. For example, 232 g SWS-101(50) ( distg. promotor of SWS silicon Co.) was added to 250 ml reactant which was prepd. by chlorination of -thienyl acetic acid with SOCl2, and was distd. at 5 mmHg and 90≦̸C to give 221 g I(X = S; n = 1).
