The block bracket (10) is traversed by a deep vertical groove (27) for a tensioned fence wire (29). It is fixed to the post by driving a tapered (22) pin into a diametrically split spigot (13). The geometry is such that the in situ pin (21) restrains the wire (29) against uplift. This is esp. useful when wire runs inclined to the horizontal. The spigot (13) passes through a bore in the post (16) wall, cantilevering radially from the curved bracket side (32) and being traversed by an axial bore (19). The bore (19) continues to open out on the external bracket side (14), being sited above the invert (30) of the groove (27). The gap between the in situ pin (21) barrel and the groove invert (30) equals the wire (29) dia., and the pin (21) is such that it penetrates the spigot when driven flush with the external bracket face (14).
