The attachment inserted in the sample chamber raises the light yield. It comprises a hollow light integration globe with a mirrored or matt white interior surface and to which the photo detector is directly attached. The globe lies immediately over the sample plate and the measuring light beam is deflected through it onto the latter by an external optical device. Pref. the photo detector comprises a photo multiplier with a filter across the opening in the globe to which it is fitted. The globe may be symmetrical in cross-section to an equatorial plane to provide a spherical mirrored ring covered on both sides by a planar face. The sample plate lies adjacent to one of these faces and the photo multiplier lies in the equatorial plane.
