<p>Method comprises collection of L-glutamic acid (I) from a liq. culture medium after aerobic incubation of a mutant induced from Brevibacterium or Corynebacterium, which is resistant to (I) or (I)-analogue. (I) can be produced with a high yield. Examples of mutant are ammonium glutamate-resistant Brev. lactofermentum (AJ 11292, FERM-P 4585), Glutamic acid gamma-monohydroxamate-resistant Brev. lactofermentum (AT 11293, FERM-P4586), ammonium glutamate-resistant Brev. flavum (AJ 11294, FERM-P4587), alpha-methyl glutamate-resistant Brev. flavum (AJ 11295, FERM-P4588), etc. Mutant is induced by UV irradiation, X-ray irradiation, radioactive ray irradiation and treatment with mutagenic agents such as N-nitro-N1-methyl-N-nitroso guanidine. Examples of (I)-analogue to which mutant exhibits resistance are amonium, Na and K glutamate, alpha-methyl glutamate, beta-hydroxy glutamate, etc.</p> |
