The centrifuge beaker contains two chambers; a bag contg. blood is placed in one chamber together with a pressure cushion. The top end of the bag is connected by a tube to one or more satellite bags located in the other chamber. During centrifuging, the cushion is expanded so that its vol. is greatly increased, thus compressing the blood bag so that some of the sepd. blood constituents are transferred to the empty bags. The blood-contg. bag is pref. inserted in an elastic beaker in the first chamber. The cushion is pref. filled with a liq. and expanded by compressed air.. The sepd. blood constituents have the highest possible purity because they do not contaminate each other.
|
