Variant profile key cylinder lock - has guide profile at channel end with stop pin cut=outs

The cylinder lock is designed for use in high security institutions, e.g. prisons. The cross-section of each key or key channel comprises a guide profile and/or variation profile which is constant within a given institution. The guiding profile (1) is located at the end of the key (3) or key channel opposite to the back (2) of the key - that is, at the end incorporating cutouts (24) for blocking pins. The profile can consist of mutually aligned and overlapping recesses(6) or ribs. It may be adjoined by one or more variation profile zones, as far as the back of the key. This permits use of keys with variation profiles but not guiding profiles.
