Close coupled lorry and trailer - have telescopic drawbar with lateral guide under rear of lorry

The close coupled lorry and trailer have the front end of the drawbar pivoted about a vertical axis inset from the rear of the lorry and with the front of the drawbar telescopic. A guide tab on the non extending part of the drawbar moves in a guide across the rear of the lorry, with the double armed drawbar hinged from the tab frame. The spacing between the lorry and trailer is halved, allowing more load capacity inside the max. permissible length of the unit as well as reducing wind drag between the lorry and trailer.
