The ball race (1) has a sealing washer (3) fixed to the exterior bearing housing (2) and supported by a plate (4). The sealing washer may be manufactured from steel, plastics or rubber. The free edge of the sealing washer (3) is bifurcated and formed into two leaves (5). An 'O' ring (6) is housed in a groove (10) in the interior bearing housing (9). The leaves of the sealing washer are in contact, lightly, with the 'O' ring and the annular cavity (7) thus formed may be packed with grease. If a non-contact type of seal is preferred the dia. of the 'O' ring may be reduced, in order to leave a small clearance between it and the leaves of the sealing washer. The labyrinth so formed may also be packed with grease.
