The distributed light consists of two flexible supply lines inside a transparent flexible tube and with connections at each end. Each discharge lamp is connected in series with a ballast resistor across the two supply lines. The lamps are distributed along inside the tube. The supply voltage is applied to one end of the two lines whilst the other end may be connected to an identical tube or terminated by an incandescent lamp.
