The tank (1) has a flow channel (4) communicating with the top and bottom of the tank (1) and containing the immersion heater (6). A temp. sensor (12) depends vertically into the tank itself to monitor the water temp. at various levels. The sensor causes the immersion heater (6) to be switched OFF when the water temp. reaches a specific level (H1,H2) corresponding to a given quantity of water selected via a switch (11). A circulation pump (5) is incorporated in the flow channel (4) for feeding water from the bottom to the top of the tank via the heater (6). It is electrically connected in parallel with the heater (6) both being connected to the supply via one of three parallel switch contacts (8,9,10) controlled by the temp. sensor (12). Each is associated with one position of the selection switch (11).
