PURPOSE:To manufacture a shoft roll efficiently, by mixing plastisol to paste resin consisting basically of polyvinyl chloride along with deaeration without impairing its fluidity, and then casting and heating the same in a mold. CONSTITUTION:A roll is made of a base material 4 consisting of a paste resin of polyvinyl chloride admixed with a plasticizer and a filler consisting of metal fiber pieces 2 or the like having lengths of 0.1-5.0mm., mixed at the rate of 1-30phr. By cutting the roll surface with a knife edge 1, fine barbs 3 are formed on the roll surface, so that the barbs can be imparted with destaticizing and brushing function. In case of using the roll as a printing roll, a polymeric epoxy derivative or the like is admixed as polymeric plasticizer having a molecular weight of 5X10<2>-5X10<3> as the rate of 50-200phr, and a phathalic acid derivative or the like is used as viscosity-modifying plasticizer. Further, in casting the plastisol into a roll manufacturing mold, it is gelled by heating the same at 100-160 deg.C for 1-6hr. In practical use, base material 4 is bonded to a roll core 6 through provision of a surface bonding layer 5 therebetween. |
