PURPOSE:To prepare benzene, toluene and xylene in high yield without deposition of carbon on the catalyst, by the dealkylation of a 9C fraction in the presence of steam using a catalyst containing an alkaline earth metal. CONSTITUTION:Benzene, toluene, and xylene are prepared by the dealkylation reaction of a 9C fraction in the pesence of steam using a catalyst containing an alkaline earth metal. The catalyst containing an alkaline earth metal is, e.g. a compound of an alkaline earth metal such as beryllium, strontium, magnesium, etc. (e.g. strontium oxide, strontium carbonate, etc.). The catalyst is pref. incorporated with a cocatalyst selected from a compound of an alkali metal such as lithium, potassium, etc. or a rare earth metal such as cerium, lanthanum, etc. |
