An indexible tool-holder comprises a pivotpost 1 adjustable along a support 4 and clamped by a bolt 5 with a T-end 2. A tool-holder support 7 is rotatable around the pivot and has fixed thereto, by a set-screw 12, a sleeve 9. The top edges of the sleeve 9 and pivot-post 1 are toothed at 10 and 13 respectively. A further sleeve 15 with a key 16 is clamped above the pivot post by the bolt 5 and, slidable but non- rotatable relative thereto, a ring 14 is provided with teeth 17 on its underface which are of a width to extend across both sets of teeth 10, 13. Rotation of a handle 20 depresses, against spring pressure, the ring 14 and thus locks the two sets of teeth 10, 13 against relative rotation. A tool-holder 36 is secured to the side of the support 7 by an eccentric bolt 45 and a pin 41, the latter acting as a height gauge in conjunction with a screw 49 provided on the holder. Friction surfaces may be used in lieu of the toothed locking means. |
